DPM SAYS MEETING INFRASTRUCTURE NEEDS BEYOND FISCAL CAPACITY OF GOVERNMENT ALONE

NASSAU, Bahamas — Meeting the needs of The Bahamas in regard to infrastructure “is beyond the fiscal capacity of the government alone”, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Peter Turnquest said in a press release yesterday. He was announcing the release of the government’s formal policy for public-private partnerships (PPP), the Nassau Guardian reported October 1.

Turnquest said The Bahamas’ geography and “dispersion of the islands”, along with low population densities, make the use of PPPs necessary.

“The government has established a formal policy for public-private partnerships that sets out clear definitions and terms to govern the process of identifying, screening, procuring and managing PPPs, including how to treat unsolicited proposals,” the release states. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/10/01/dpm-meeting-infrastructure-needs-beyond-fiscal-capacity-of-govt-alone/
