NASSAU, Bahamas, August 30, 2023 – Dr. Ian Strachan, President of the University of The Bahamas (UB) -North campus in Grand Bahama, today noted that he was honoured to present a copy of my new novel “Blind Days” to Prime Minister Philip E. Davis.
The novel’s narrative surrounds the life and horrible death of a slave named Kate. who lived on a plantation in Crooked Island in 1826.
Dr. Strachan, who was appointed Executive Vice President (EVP) of the University of The Bahamas (UB) on March 18, 2022, also retained his position as President of the UB-North campus.
In a press statement at the time of his appointment at EVP of the University of The Bahamas, it was noted that the “position of EVP is vitally important in the University system,” adding that it “is enshrined in the University of The Bahamas Act as an officer of the institution and serves a critical role in maximizing operational performance and maintaining continuity.”
“In the absence of the President, or during a vacancy in the office of the President, the Executive Vice President is the most senior officer who, with the Board’s authorization, functions as the President,” the statement noted.
Mrs. Allyson Maynard-Gibson, Chair of the UB Board of Trustees, was quoted as saying, “Dr. Strachan, a proud graduate of this institution, is a respected member of the academy, the fine arts community and the Bahamian society. He is one of the University’s most fervent champions, so I am extremely delighted that he will continue, as EVP, to enthusiastically help to lead UB to international accreditation.”
