WASHINGTON, D.C., July 5, 2024 — Dr. Kenneth Romer, Deputy Director General of Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, today posted a collection of photos on Facebook that I decided to share with readers of my Washington, D.C.  – based online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.

In the narrative accompanying the photos, under the heading HAPPY 248th US INDEPENDENCE DAY, Dr. Romer declared that he “is proud of the positive relationship I have enjoyed with our ‘Neighbors from the North!’ “

“I was pleased to be among the many who welcomed Ms. Kimberly Furnish, Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim, Embassy of the United States of America, as she begins her tour of duties in The Bahamas at the United States Embassy Nassau, The Bahamas,” Dr. Romer said. “One week after arriving, she confessed that she is already feeling at home.”

He added, “We are not a perfect place, but The Bahamas is still the best little nation in the world” and concluded with this statement, “248 cheers to The United States of America,” and the following hashtags:
