WASHINGTON, D.C., November 17, 2023 — The Office of the Prime Minister today posted a collection of photos on Facebook and I decided to share them with readers of my online publication BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.
In the narrative that accompanied the photos, the Office of the Prime Minister stated, “As we commemorate one month of the National School Breakfast Pilot Programme in New Providence, Minister of Education & Technical & Vocational Training Glenys Hanna Martin paid a visit to Ridgeland Primary to have breakfast with the students.”
Noting that breakfast “is the most important meal of the day,” Ridgeland Primary Principal Samantha Anderson said students “are eager to come to school for it.”
“We’ve seen tremendous growth in attendance and classroom engagement,” Principal Anderson said. “Our students are more energized. Rain or shine, our students are eager for a hot breakfast before class, and the positive progress in attendance and performance is truly inspiring.”
