WASHINGTON, D.C., December 8, 2023 — Bahamas Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, who is also Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation and MP for The Exumas and Ragged Island, today posted a collection of photos on his “Team Cooper” Facebook that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the wider Caribbean.

In the narrative that accompanied the photos, DPM Cooper extended congratulations “to the outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs who received honors at the Exuma Chamber of Commerce Business Awards today.”

He added, “Nelson Ranger was the recipient of the Vernon T. Curtis Lifetime Achievement Award. A true Exumian, Nelson’s entrepreneurial excellence, coupled with his philanthropic endeavors, symbolizes the dignity associated with this prestigious honor.

“Elvis and Maryann Rolle were named Businesspersons of the Year. Their journey, steeped in a legacy of hospitality and diversification, showcases the power of vision, hard work, and commitment to Exuma’s growth.

“242 Prime Spirits, represented by Sharlean and Patrick Brown, was the recipient of the Business of The Year Award. The Browns’ relentless pursuit of excellence in the liquor business, and active involvement in enhancing Exuma’s development, displays their exemplary corporate citizenship.

“I know all of them personally and I’m exceedingly proud of the work they do. I wish them all continued success as they make Exuma proud.”
