EXUMA MP COOPER SAYS GOVERNMENT MUST “ACT WITH URGENCY” TO RESOLVE AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEM AT GEORGE TOWN CLINIC

I. Chester Cooper, MP for the Exumas and Ragged Island.

NASSAU, Bahamas – I. Chester Cooper, MP for the Exumas and Ragged Island, has requested that the Free National Movement (FNM) government “immediately resolve” the “most pressing issue” of the air conditioning facility at the clinic in George Town, Exuma, having not “worked for a considerable period of time.”

Mr. Cooper made the request in a statement posted on his Team Cooper Facebook page on Monday, July 5, 2021.

“It has been brought to my attention by residents and clients of the clinic at George Town, Exuma, that the air-conditioning at the facility has not worked for a considerable period of time,” Mr. Cooper said, adding: “I have raised this matter with the minister of health, who has assured me that funds will be accessed from the new budget to remediate the problem.”

Declaring that the government “must act with urgency as this has created an unsanitary and uncomfortable environment for the staff and clients of the facility,” Mr.Cooper said: “We have a great vision for this facility as a regional hub for healthcare and medical tourism, and medical education and training.

“For this, we will continue to push for a fully resourced and staffed facility. In the meantime, we call on the government to immediately resolve this most pressing issue.”
