NASSAU, Bahamas, January 9, 2024 — The ZNS Network today announced that veteran journalist Fern Carey is the Bahamas Broadcasting Corporation (BCB) 2023 Employee of The Year.

“Fern has been a dedicated member of the corporation since 2005, commencing her professional journey with ZNS Northern Service,” ZNS Network said in a post on Facebook. “Her memorable experiences include covering the Marco Archer trial, which inspired the establishment of the Marco Alarm System, aimed at aiding in the search for missing children in The Bahamas.”

The ZNS statement added, “Beyond her professional achievements, Fern is a mother of three, the spouse of Ricardo Carey, and finds solace in attending church and spending quality time with her family during her leisure hours. Heartfelt congratulations to Fern on this well-deserved recognition!”

BAHAMAS CHRONICLE EDITOR’S NOTE: I absolutely had to share this post b The ZNS Network with readers of my Washington, D.C. – based online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.

I would also  like to extend my congratulations to Fern, who is equally as proficient in print journalism as she is as a broadcast journalist. Prior to joining ZNS, Fern demonstrated her excellent journalistic skills at The Nassau Guardian when I was editor of that newspaper from 1998 to 2002
