UNITED NATIONS, New York – Bahamas Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Darren A Henfield attended a high-level luncheon at the United Nations co-hosted by the Prime Ministers of Norway and Jamaica on the theme “An Urgent Call to Countries to Partner for Climate Action: A Race We Can Win. A Race We Must Win” on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
In brief remarks, Minister Henfield highlighted the destruction caused by hurricane Dorian in Abaco and Grand Bahama and stressed the need for the world to actively tackle climate change. He opined that the Caribbean region and other small states are bearing the burden of climate change, according to a post on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Facebook page.
The 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 74) is being held through September 30. The first day of the high-level General Debate will be Tuesday, September 24.
