NASSAU, Bahamas — The old Bahamian economy is done and can no longer serve the Bahamian people, nor is it producing opportunities for Bahamians, former Central Bank of The Bahamas (CBOB) Governor Julian Francis said yesterday.
Francis, who was part of a panel at the University of The Bahamas of other former CBOB governors, including Sir William Allen, James Smith and Wendy Craig, discussing the past, present and future of monetary and fiscal policy, lamented the state of the country’s fiscal and monetary policy, and where governments have brought the Bahamian economy to date.
He explained that successive governments failed to put in place fiscal policy that would protect against the government of the day abusing fiscal arrangements.
“This is a very serious problem,” he said. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/11/22/francis-old-economy-is-finished-cant-serve-us-any-longer/
