TWIST ON THE CLASSICAL COMPOSITION “BEETHOVEN’S FIFTH SYMPHONY”

NASSAU, Bahamas — Award-winning musician, songwriter and producer Fred Ferguson is at it again with the release of “(Drink A) Fifth of Beethoven” his twist on the well-known classical composition “Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony”,  Nassaau Guardian Lifestyles Editor Shavaughn Moss reports in The Guardian on Friday, October 28, 2022.

Ferguson’s “(Drink A) Fifth of Beethhoven” includes strings with traditional Junkanoo instruments which he says underscores his belief that Bahamians should not limit the potential of their unique rhythms.

“I’m attempting to take our music in another direction and thought this song done Junkanoo style would be a good way to move in that direction,” said Ferguson. “I’m hoping people will feel the happy energy and also feel free as the “(Drink A) Fifth of Beethoven”…and not get a negative hangover…but one of joy.”

His inspiration behind his latest project he says has always been and remains the power and uniqueness of Bahamian rhythms and the untapped potential if they are willing to experiment and develop and promote them to a wider audience.

“This release really makes me feel happy. The fact that I’ve completed this – which is the first release from a 13-track project – is a major relief after struggling through the COVID period and trying to raise funds for that purpose.”

While his “(Drink A) Fifth of Beethoven” is instrumental, the project will have a few tracks that incorporate singers.

Joining Ferguson on “(Drink A) Fifth of Beethoven is Theophilus “T” Coakley from T Connection fame on keyboard solo; Junior Scott on additional strings; Chris Justilien on sousaphone. Gregg White mixed and mastering engineered.

Ferguson is currently working on a follow up project which has a working title of “Anudda Coat Of Paint” which he says will again feature popular songs redone featuring Rake ‘n’ Scrape and Junkanoo. He says he is currently working on raising funds to complete the project which he hopes to release by late spring 2023.

“Presently I’m focused on completing this project, but I am involved with producing a few projects for other artists that I’ll be announcing soon.” See complete article in The Nassau Guardian at https://thenassauguardian.com/fred-ferguson-releases-drink-a-fifth-of-beethoven/?fbclid=IwAR16LVqeqUKRI2xeptf459YcTYITC-dAZmgxUfPIix-ul9m2XioG2_SJvOk
