GAMING PATRONS TAX BEGINS TOMORROW

NASSAU, Bahamas — After three delays, the five percent stamp tax for gaming patrons will be implemented tomorrow, according to Tourism Minister Dionisio D’Aguilar, who argued that in addition to increasing government revenue, the Minnis administration is also seeking to slow down the rate of gaming, which he contended is “getting out of control”.

“There’s no good that comes out of gaming,” said D’Aguilar, who said he supports the legalization of web shop gaming.

“I mean, people take their money and they gamble it,” he said. “They don’t create opportunities. They don’t grow businesses. It’s a risk. It’s a game of chance and Bahamians in huge droves are gaming and the government’s position is that this is not a productive use of your money…” https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/08/31/gaming-patrons-tax-begins-tomorrow/
