GBPA CONGRATULATES ITS CFO ON “PROFILES IN EXCELLENCE” RECOGNITION

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama, October 23, 2020 – In a post on its Facebook page, the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) congratulated its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Deann Seymour for “being recognized in the Profiles in Excellence Series, showcasing her as a standout individual, who is not only making a difference, but also one who helps to inspire and lead in our city.”

“We are pleased to extend congratulations and best wishes to her for this well-deserved honour as she continues to build a legacy that empowers women to excel in every aspect of their lives,” the GBPA noted.

The “Profiles in Excellence Series” is a regular feature on Facebook posted by noted motivational speaker Spence Finlayson, Founder & CEO at The Phoenix Institute for Positive Development & Empowerment, based in Nassau, Bahamas.

HERE IS HIS FEATURE ON MRS. DEANN SEYMOUR

Today, we pause to honor and celebrate Deann Seymour in our “Profiles in Excellence Series”. Deann, Financial Executive at the Grand Bahama Port Authority Limited (GBPA), believes in the pursuit of excellence in all she puts her hands to. With more than 30 years of experience in the Accounting and Financial Management field, she sits as Chief Financial Officer for the GPBA Group of Companies.

SPENCE FINLAYSON

Mrs. Seymour began her professional career as an Auditor with KPMG in the early 90’s . By 2004, she had served as Group Financial Controller for the Port Lucaya Resort & Yacht Club and the Grand Bahama Shipyard Ltd., with responsibility for financial reporting and internal controls. In mid-2004, Mrs. Seymour joined Hutchinson Group of Companies as Senior Financial analyst and was later promoted to the position of Financial Accounting Manager for the Group.

In August 2007, Mrs. Seymour joined the GBPA as Group Financial Analyst. Within less than a year she was promoted to Group Financial Controller and served in this capacity until her appointment to Chief Financial Officer by the Board of Directors in December 2012. Mrs. Seymour holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Fort Lauderdale College and has attained the designation of Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant. An Honoree of the Professional Services Bahamas 2019 Influential Bahamian Women in Business, Mrs. Seymour, a Grand Bahamian businesswoman, has rendered financial advisory and business consulting services to many small businesses.

Although born in the country’s capital, Mrs. Seymour was raised on Grand Bahama Island where she resides with her family. She is married to Retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour and they have two children, Emrinique and Emrick Seymour Jr.  I thank her publicly today for raising the ceiling on my possibilities.
