Recently, the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA) made a special presentation of a newly published children’s book on the creation of the City of Freeport to the Charles Hayward Children’s Library, as well as to schools across the island.

“Wally, Jack, and Eddie,” written by local author Keldra Pinder, brings to life the story of how Freeport came to be, thoughtfully reimagined for young readers to understand, appreciate, and take pride in the history of their city.

Supported by GBPA, the production of this book represents a meaningful investment in literacy, heritage, and the empowerment of the next generation. This initiative ensures that the story of Freeport is not only preserved, but placed directly into the hands of the children who will shape its future.

Families, educators, and young readers are invited to visit the library to explore this commemorative publication in celebration of the 70th anniversary of our city.
