NASSAU, Bahamas — A company whose director has the same name as a woman Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) Executive Chairman Adrian Gibson identified as his fiancée was awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in contracts by the corporation, according to documents leaked to the media, The Nassau Guardian reported on August 30.
The documents show that Elite Maintenance Incorporated Ltd. was awarded two contracts from WSC.
The first contract was dated September 1, 2018.
In a memorandum of understanding (MOU), Alexandria Mackey of Elite Maintenance is listed as the contractor.
Elite was awarded a $4,700 per month contract for yard cleaning and grounds maintenance services for 13 WSC pumping stations on New Providence.
“A. Mackey” signed the contract on October 17, 2018 next to the title “contractor”.
The expiration date of the MOU is August, 31, 2021.
The MOU was authorized by WSC General Manager Elwood Donaldson, who signed on October 16, 2018.
The second contract awarded to Elite Maintenance was on June 23, 2020.
The leaked documents show that Elite and two other companies were each awarded contracts of $263,200 for the refurbishment of the “Blue Hill low level tank No.1”.
Tanya Demeritte signed on behalf of Elite on that document.
Those documents were also signed by Donaldson.
In a statement last night, Gibson denied that he has any beneficial interest or any other interest in Elite Maintenance Incorporated Ltd.
But Gibson did not say whether Alexandria Mackey, who is listed as a director of Elite Maintenance Incorporated Ltd. and who signed as “contractor”, is the same Alexandria Mackey who he listed as his fiancée in a 2020 police report.
