GOVERNOR-GENERAL RETURNS FROM LONDON AFTER FAREWELL AUDIENCE WITH HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELISABETH II

NASSAU, Bahamas — Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Marguerite Pindling, Governor-General of The Bahamas, was greeted at Lynden Pindling International Airport on Thursday, June 13, 2019 by Deputy to the Governor-General Cornelius A. Smith and Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson (right) upon her return from an official farewell courtesy call on Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II in London. Her Royal Highness held an audience with Dame Marguerite at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, June 12, during which Dame Marguerite officially informed her that she will be “relinquishing her appointment as Governor-General”  later this month. Dame Marguerite, who became Governor General on July 8, 2014, is expected to be replaced by Mr. Smith,  although an official announcement has not yet been made by the Government.
