GREENSLADE WELCOMES “CHIPMAN CLAN” TO HIGH COMMISSION

LONDON, England, September 1, 2019  — His Excellency Ellison Greenslade, QPM, Bahamas High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, welcomed  the “Chipman Clan” to The Bahamas High Commission, 10 Chesterfield Street, Mayfair, London, during a courtesy call by legendary Bahamian entertainer John “Chippie” Chipman and 15 members of his family on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 while on a visit to London.

In a tweet, High Commissioner Greenslade noted: “It was truly a delight to receive Mr. John “Chippie ” Chipman, MBE,  several of his children and grandchildren at The Bahamas High Commission in London this morning! He presented me with several of his famous Goat skin drums, which he autographed.”

Reece Chipman, Member of Parliament for Centreville, who is a grandson of John “Chippie” Chipman, posted a collage of photos taken during the courtesy call on his Facebook page, with the following caption: “Our ‘moment’ in time with Grandpa Chippie. For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten son, for whosoever believes in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Love of Family, a special gift from God. Amazing Grace…How Sweet The Song.”

Contacted via his inbox for more information on the courtesy call, Reece Chipman stated, “High Commissioner Greenslade wanted to see Daddy Chippie and Chippie wanted to see him. The Commissioner welcomed more than 15 members of the Chipman Clan and took many photos of and with the group. He educated us on the history of our building in London, which houses The Bahamas  mission, and reminded us about the importance of family and nation building. Chippie made some drums for him, which he autographed. It was a really good meeting.”
