NASSAU, Bahamas — Born June 7, 1951, the Hon. Philip ‘Brave’ Davis, QC, is currently Prime Miniter of The Bahamas. As Leader of the then Opposition Progressive Liberal Party, he led the PLP to a landslide victory over the then governing Free National Movement in general elections held on September 16, 2021.
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Philip ‘Brave’ Davis was born on 7 June 1951 in Cat Island, Bahamas, He received his early education at Old Bight All Age School, Eastern Junior & Senior Schools, and St. John’s College. He worked as a Law Clerk in the Law Chambers of Wallace-Whitfield & Barnwell and was called to the Bahamas Bar in 1975.
CAREER
Philip ‘Brave’ Davis, a lawyer, is a a long-time Member of Parliament for the seat of Cat Island, Rum Cay & San Salvador. He served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works and Urban Development from 2012 to 2017 in the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Government.
Prior to entering Parliament, Davis was Partner at Davis & Co., a successful law firm previously known as Christie, Ingraham & Co., and Christie, Davis & Co. He is a two-time Vice President of the Bar Council and former President of the Bahamas Bar Association. A leading litigation lawyer, Davis has an impressive appellate record with frequent appearances before the Privy Council. He is a former Member of the Council of Legal Education (CARICOM). He was appointed Queen’s Council (QC) in January 2015. He was appointed Leader of the Opposition on 19 May 2017.
PERSONL LIFE
Davis is married to wife Ann-Marie and he is the proud father of six children. His hobbies are baseball, softball, swimming and jogging. He is a devout Anglican.
