HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY TO ALL MY FELLOW AMERICANS

By OSWALD T. BROWN

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 4, 2024 — I relocated to the United States from The Bahamas in 1973 and became a naturalized American citizen on September 17, 1981. I love this great country as passionately as I love The Bahamas, where I was born at Stanyard Creek, Andros, the largest of the chain of islands that comprise the Bahamian archipelago, on March 7, 1942.

Every day I give thanks to my Lord and Savior during my daily morning devotion for being in the driver’s seat of my life, and this morning I included a special “thank you” for his supervision of my decision to become a citizen of this great country. So, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY to all my fellow Americans.

May I also suggest that those of you who have not yet experienced why the country of my birth, The Bahamas, is recognized as one of the world’s leading  tourist destinations, seriously consider doing so whenever you plan your next vacation.

By the way, next week on Wednesday, July 10, The Bahamas – a former colony of Great Britain – will be celebrating its 51st anniversary as an independent nation. So, let me also take this opportunity to wish my fellow Bahamians HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
