LONDON, England — His Excellency Ellison Greenslade, Bahamas High Commissioner to Great Britain and Northern Ireland, attended a reception on the occasion of the 56th Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Uganda on Tuesday, October 9, at Tavistock Square, London.
High Commissioner Greenslade was invited to join the head table along with the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities in the Uganda Cabinet, Professor Ephraim Kamuntu; the High Commissioner for Uganda in UK, H.E. Julius Peter Moto; Mr. Euripides Evriviades, High Commissioner of Cyrus, who serves as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth (BOG); a representative from the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO), and distinguished business persons.
“It was a delightful evening with interesting speeches, excellent cultural performances and delicious food,” High Commissioner Greenslade noted in an email. “I was very pleased to represent the Government and people of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas on this special occasion. The Hon. Minister of Tourism of Uganda spoke of a previous visit to The Bahamas and he recalled with fond memories his positive experiences. I took this opportunity to assure the Honourable Minister of our wish for continued good relations between our countries.”
The theme for this year’s independence celebrations was, “Standing tall as we celebrate achievements of our 56 years of independence”.
