NASSAU, Bahamas, June 28, 2019 — The Hon. Cornelius A. Smith was sworn in today, June 28, as the 11th Governor General of The Bahamas by Chief Justice Brian Moree in ceremonies held at Rawson Square in downtown Nassau. Official ceremonies featured a Farewell Salute to former Governor General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Marguerite Pindling, who had served as Governor General since July 8, 2014 and officially demitted office on June 28, 2019. Government officials and Bahamians from all walks of life viewed the pageantry in the centre of downtown. The celebration continued at Government House.
