HOTEL UNION CANCELS STRIKE VOTE

NASSAU, Bahamas — Director of Labour John Pinder said Atlantis employees have postponed their strike vote, the Nassau Guardian reported December 14.

“We had a meeting this evening, and they have agreed to postpone it,” Pinder said. “They just wanted to ensure that Atlantis does what it [promised], live up to what they [promised] they’re going to do; but it has been postponed. They do not wish to carry on at this time.”

The strike vote was scheduled for December 18. On Monday, Atlantis told The Nassau Guardian it had resolved all of the concerns of the hotel union.

“All of the matters that the union had expressed their concerns over have been addressed by the resort, and we do not consider there to be any outstanding concerns that would warrant any industrial actions,” said Atlantis in a statement. “Not only do we not see a basis for a strike vote, but have asked the union to withdraw any disputes filed thus far. We can only assume that the Department of Labour would endorse this position.” https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/12/14/hotel-union-cancels-strike-vote/
