NASSAU, Bahamas, November 29, 2019 – H.E. Alejandro Garcia del Toro, incoming Ambassador from the Republic of Cuba, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Philip “Brave” Davis, Leader of the Opposition Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition on Friday, November 29, 2019.
Ambassador Garcia del Toro replaces Ismara M. Vargas-Walter, who demitted office in October following a four-year stint as Cuban Ambassador to The Bahamas.
According to an October 19 article in the Nassau Guardian, former Ambassador Vargas-Walter praised The Bahamas as having “a special place in her heart, and she complimented the Bahamian government for its hardworking foreign service personnel who work tirelessly to foster diplomatic relations with other countries.”
She also expressed her gratitude that The Bahamas government has always showed respect for Cuba as a sovereign country, according to the Guardian’s article.
