NASSAU, Bahamas — JetBlue Airways is increasing its flights into The Bahamas beginning at the end of the month, Caribbean Journal has reported in an article, introducing new daily non-stop flights from LaGuardia International Airport in New York, The Nassau Guardian reported on Tuesday, March 14, in an article written by Chester Robards.
Caribbean Journal explained that the first scheduled flight is expected to operate on March 30.
“JetBlue is operating the route on its A320 aircraft (the flight will not include Mint cabin service),” the article said.
“The new route comes as Nassau/Paradise Island is surpassing its pre-pandemic tourism levels, according to Joy Jibrilu, chief executive officer of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board.
“Last year, hotel occupancy was 65.2 percent in Nassau/Paradise Island, up from 42 percent in 2021, as the destination continues its sizzling tourism rebound. The launch of the new flights will conclude what is a big month for the destination, which is hosting its first-ever Nassau Paradise Island Wine & Food Festival at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort from March 15 to 19,” said Jibrilu.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation Chester Cooper continues to speak about the need for increased airlift into this destination, especially in the Family Islands given the increased visitor interest in the country.
Cooper, during a heads of agreement signing ceremony yesterday for a project in the Exuma Cays, spoke of the need to continue to invest in airport infrastructure in order to lure more airlift and more airlines to The Bahamas.
“We do have some infrastructure concerns on the island of Exuma,” said Cooper. See complete article in The Nassau Guardian at https://thenassauguardian.com/jet-blue-increasing-airlift-into-new-providence/
