GUEST COMMENTARY: BY JOSEPH CURRY

(EDITOR’S NOTE: Although this is brief, I am sharing it as a Guest Commentary with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE because I think it deserves wider coverage and also to congratulate my fellow devout Roman Catholic.)

NASSAU, Bahamas, March 15, 2023 — Last week, I entered a new phase in my life when I became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and received the designation (MCIArb). I am now certified to be an Arbitrator and assist with arbitration matters globally.

For me, life has always been about professional development and self-improvement at each stage of life and never settling for the last achievement. This designation opens up a new Chapter in my life and one which I am excited to enter. I am a testimony that nothing worthwhile comes easy and a lot of sacrifices opportunities!! God is good!!

ADDITIONAL EDITOR’S NOTE: His Excellency Joseph Curry, the new Bahamas Ambassador to the Holy See, presented his credential letters to Pope Francis on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the Vatican.

Ambassador Curry, a devout Roman Catholic, is President of Frandor Investments Ltd. He previously served in The Bahamas Foreign Service at The Bahamas Embassy in Washington, D.C. from 1990 to 1994.

In a post on Facebook with a photo of him presenting his credentials to the Holy Father, Ambassador Curry wrote:

His Excellency Joseph Curry, Bahamas Ambassador to the Holy See, was joined by his wife Terez and other family members when he presented his credentials to His Holiness Pope Francis. He is seen here presenting the Pope with a painting.

“On Thursday, December 15, 2022, I presented my Letters of Credentials to the Holy Father, Pope Francis, accrediting me as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to the Holy See. It was a special moment as I assumed a new assignment from the Prime Minister to be his Envoy to the Holy See. While a devout Catholic, I did not expect or pursue the appointment, but God knows what plans He has for us.

“This is a different type of assignment where the State and the Church work together in the local and international community for the advancement of mankind; peace and security; and a better quality of life for all citizens of the world.

“I wish to thank the Hon. Philip E. Davis, Prime Minister of The Bahamas, for the appointment and the confidence reposed in me. I also wish to thank His Grace, Archbishop of Nassau, Patrick C. Pinder, for his support of the appointment. I thank God for the opportunity to serve.

“I ask my family, friends and the Bahamian people to pray for me to have the wisdom to understand more deeply the assignment and the humility and right judgement to carry it out. I also ask for God’s blessings”
