LINDSAY THOMPSON PARTICIPATES IN VIRTUAL INTERNATIONAL VISITOR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM ALUMNI SALON SERIES

Lindsay Thompson, Senior Information Officer at BIS, participated in Strategies for Climate Action, an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Alumni Salon Series, which officially opened virtually on Monday, April 19, 2021.

NASSAU, Bahamas — Lindsay Thompson, Senior Information Officer at Bahamas Information Services (BIS), participated in Strategies for Climate Action, an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Alumni Salon Series, which officially opened virtually on Monday, April 19, 2021, the United States Embassy Nassau revealed on its Facebook Page on Wednesday, April 21.

FLASHBACK: On Thursday, June 8, 2017, Lindsay Thompson paid a courtesy call on the then U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Lisa Johnson at the U.S. Embassy to discuss her participation in the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) from February 11 to March 4, 2017.

Lindsay, who also serves as the Public Information Officer for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), was among members of the IVLP Alumni representing more than 80 countries who were invited to participate in the series focused on climate change, renewable energy, building back better and other related topics. The keynote speaker for the opening session was Dr. Denise Keele, Ph.D., of Western Michigan University who spoke on the topic, “Addressing U.S. Public Policy and the Economics of Clean Energy and Environmental Protection.”

“Lindsay was delighted to reconnect with members of her IVLP 2017 group, and the wider Alumni,” the U.S. Embassy noted. “The knowledge exchanged, sharing of best practices and an insight into how countries are tackling impacts on their environment and other climate change issues. Lindsay previously participated in the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, IVLP focused on “Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management”  in 2017.”

The Strategies for Climate Action salon series coincides with Earth Day, which will be celebrated this Thursday, April 22, 2021. The program concludes on May 4, 2021.
