NASSAU, Bahamas — Margaritaville at Sea begins sailing from the Port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama on April 30 and its first three sailing dates are already sold out, according to the cruise ship’s website, The Nassau Guardian reported on Tuesday, April 5.
Grand Bahama will welcome back a familiar boat with a grand, new makeover at the end of the month, after the iconic Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville brand and Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line formed a partnership to create the first-ever Margaritaville at Sea cruise ship.
According to an article on Travel and Leisure’s website, the cruise line will continue to offer Bahamas Paradise’s popular cruise and stay option, which allows cruise guests to stay at either of two Grand Bahama hotel properties.
The three-day two-night cruise will feature many of the Margaritaville brand’s signature amenities like the JWB Prime Steakhouse, St. Somewhere Spa and and the Fins Up Fitness Center, Travel and Leisure revealed.
“The ship features 658 laid-back yet luxe cabins with nautical details and tropical colors inspired by the sea, sand, and sky. Expect lots of parrots, anchors, and beach vibes incorporated into the décor, plus cabin walls lined with maps of islands on and around the equator,” the article states.
When the announcement was made that the Margaritaville theme would be transferred onto a cruise ship, Buffet was quoted in a statement saying: “To me, the only thing better than being on a beach by the ocean, is to be on the ocean. Now, you can follow in our wake.”
Buffet recently opened his first signature hotel and steak house in New Providence at The Pointe in Downtown Nassau.
Bahamas Paradise’s lone cruise ship, the Grand Classica, has undergone a multimillion-dollar refit to ensure its cabins and common spaces have the signature Margaritaville feel.
Margaritaville Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Cohlan said in December that the cruise will be a new, fun way for guests to experience the Margaritaville brand.
