NASSAU, Bahamas — Minister of Transport and Local Government Renward Wells said yesterday that the report into the fatal explosion of a Four C’s Adventures boat in June was “alarming” and that he plans to “tighten up” on boat registration and inspection.
The explosion in June left one dead and several injured.
“I’m going through the report as we speak and it is quite alarming as to the lack of manpower that we have in Exuma,” Wells said outside of Cabinet.
“It’s alarming as to how this situation developed. And yesterday I moved to issue certain instructions to the Port Department to have every ship, every boat in Exuma, every shipowner to come in and for us to inspect their vessels so that we’re able to bring the requisite regulations to this industry.
“And not just to Exuma, but throughout the country because we understand that this is not just a situation that’s in Exuma.” https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/10/03/maritime-crackdown/
