WASHINGTON, D.C., November 2, 2023 – Bahamas Prime Minister Philip E. Davis today posted a collection of photos on his Facebook page that were taken during a courtesy call he received from members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.

In the narrative that accompanied the photos, the Prime Minister said, “I was honoured to receive a courtesy call from the esteemed members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Enlightening exchange with International President & CEO Ms. Danette Reed, Bahamas Regional Director Ms. Carrie Clark, Executive Director Mrs. Jacquelyn Young, and Deputy Director Dr. Nicole Narrett on initiatives that uplift our communities.”

Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA), is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.

AKA presently is comprised of more than 355,000 initiated members in graduate and undergraduate chapters located in 12 countries, including the United States, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Dubai, Germany, Japan, Liberia, Nigeria, South Korea, South Africa and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
