NASSAU, Bahamas — Less than one half of one percent of more than six million tourists have experienced crime while visiting The Bahamas, Director General of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Joy Jibrilu said yesterday, the Nassau Guardian reported October 1.
Jibrilu was responding to a question posed by international media at a press briefing at the State of Tourism Industry Conference at Atlantis.
“The safety and security is the number one issue for every Bahamian citizen as well as every visitor who visits the islands of The Bahamas,” she said.
“This is a problem that we in The Bahamas, and I think as a region, we are all grappling with. One of the things we can say is we work hand-in-hand with the U.S. Embassy here, as well as with all of the police and uniformed branches, and we look at the statistics of crime. I don’t want to say that there isn’t an issue with crime. But, out of 6.5 million visitors that visit our country, less than half of a percent is impacted by crime.” https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/10/02/minimal-number-of-tourists-impacted-by-crime/
