WASHINGTON, D.C., October 7, 2023 – Describing it as “a Friday well spent,” Elizabeth MP JoBeth Coleby-Davis, Minister of Energy and Transport, today posted a collection of photos on Facebook that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.
“Yesterday (Friday), I had the opportunity to speak with the new inductees of BPLs Craftsman Apprenticeship Program,” Mrs. Coleby-Davis said, adding that the “Craftsman Apprenticeship Programme is a tremendous opportunity and those selected are encouraged to maximize the next two years or four years of the programme.”
She stressed that the benefits to participants of the programme, include:
▪ Essentially, a paid education,
▪ Ability to advance in the organization,
▪ A rewarding career,
▪ Opportunity to contribute as national builders.
“To the participants, I wish to again encourage your full engagement and to truly embrace this training opportunity,” Mrs. Coleby-Davis said. “The sky is the limit and I encourage to soar!”
The next half of Mrs. Coleby-Davis’ “well spent” Friday morning was when she joined officials of the Bahamas Mortgage Corp as they honoured “the life and stellar work” of Ruth Millar, the first female Managing Director and the Financial Secretary, who oversaw the nation’s finances from 1994 to 2008, by naming the Bahamas Mortgage Corporation’s new building in her honour.
Among those also participating in the ceremony were Prime Minister Philip E. Davis, First Lady Ann Marie Davis, former Prime Minister Perry Christie, former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham, and several current Cabinet Ministers.
