MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS SAYS HAITIAN EMBASSY OFFICIAL INTERFERED IN DOMESTIC ISSUE

NASSAU, Bahamas — The Ministry of Foreign of Affairs said yesterday that a Haitian Embassy official interfered in the domestic affairs of The Bahamas, the Guardian reported on July 26.

The ministry was responding to an article that appeared in The Tribune on Tuesday under the caption, “Embassy role in shantytown evictions”.

The article quotes Haitian Embassy First Assistant Secretary Karl Henri Chatelier, who stated on a ZNS program that the August 10 eviction deadline given by the Bahamas government for shantytown residents was too soon and that relocations will take more time.

Chatelier also went into detail about how the government should handle the matter.

The ministry said in a statement that it called Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy Francois Michel to its headquarters to address the matter. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/07/26/govt-haitian-embassy-official-interfered-in-domestic-issue/
