FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – An initiative launched by Minister for Grand Bahama Ginger Moxey that has been designated “Beautiful Grand Bahama” began on Tuesday, August 12, with the employmet of 300 Grand Bahamians for a 12-week period.
The program, slated to end on June 30, aligns “with the Davis/Cooper Administration’s mandate to recover and rebuild in sync with the Ministry for Grand Bahama’s mandate to stimulate and promote new employment opportunities,” according to a statement released by the Ministry for Grand Bahama on its Facebook page with a collage of photos on Wednesday, April 13.
“Yesterday, individuals hired to participate in the program began the process of beautifying and transforming the island of Grand Bahama for meaningful impact, sustainable growth and development,” the statement noted.
It added: “The Davis-Cooper Administration has committed to a strategic plan for Individual Island’s inner-city revitalization. Under the focused agenda, clean-up programs are ranked highly among other initiatives to aid in the process.
“As the first day of clean-up began island-wide, Grand Bahamians gathered on the grounds of the Ministry for Grand Bahama to begin working toward transforming and remodeling the nation’s second city. On behalf of Minister Moxey, Mr. Harcourt Brown, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for Grand Bahama, addressed the program participants, and noted the importance of the work they are about to be a part of. Mr. Brown charged each individual present to work diligently and effectively toward the fulfillment of the program’s main goals.”
