WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Ministry of Grand Bahama posted an excellent collection of photos on Facebook on the launch of the National Free Breakfast Programme at Homes Rock Primary in Grand Bahama on Friday, November 3, 2023, that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean
The Ministry posted the photos with the following narrative:
This morning commenced with a heartwarming moment as the Minister for Grand Bahama, Hon. Ginger M. Moxey, M.P. paid a special visit to Holmes Rock Primary School during the launch of the National Free Breakfast Programme.
Holmes Rock Primary is one of eight schools nationwide selected for the pilot phase of this programme.
The excitement in the air bubbled like hot grits as children eagerly received their savory meals, with large smiles shining as bright as the Bahamian sun. Minister Moxey personally distributed each plate, and was elated to sit beside students and interact with our beloved youth.
The Minister for Grand Bahama expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Education, Technical & Vocational Training for selecting this school and noted, “Seeing the joy on these young faces as they enjoy their breakfast warms my heart. Our commitment to their well-being is unwavering.”
The launch of the National Free Breakfast Program marks a significant step toward ensuring that no child on our BAHAMALAND goes to school hungry. It’s not just about providing sustenance; it’s about empowering the future generation. This initiative sets a remarkable example, fostering a sense of community and care!
