NESTOR MENDEZ TAKES OFFICE FOR SECOND TERM AS OAS ASSISTANT SECRETARY GENERAL

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 15, 2020 — The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a virtual special meeting on Friday, July 17, beginning at 10:30 a.m. “to swear in the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Ambassador Nestor Mendez for the 2020-2025 period.

Announcing this on its website, the OAS noted that the “meeting will be broadcast live — with interpretation in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese — on the OAS Website, Facebook and YouTube.”

Ambassador Mendez was first elected OAS Assistant Secretary General for the 2015-2020 period in March of 2015. Prior to this, he was  Permanent Representative of Belize to the OAS  and Ambassador of Belize to the United States from June 2008.
