NASSAU, Bahamas, Nov. 1, 2022 — “The Bahamas Wins Gold,” a delighted NACAC General Secretary Keith Joseph commented at an historic event in Nassau today as a medial company became the Title Partner for the first time in the history of the CARIFTA Games.
Oaktree Medical Center, led by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Don Deveaux and CEO Kristi Deveaux, joined the 50th CARIFTA Games family as the Title Partner.
Dr. Deveaux and the Oaktree Medical Center family have donated $300,000 toward the success of the upcoming games. When asked why not invest in a more stable growing industry such as technology, Dr. Deveaux said he and the members of Oaktree Medical Center do not just believe in investing in the physical care of others, but rather the development of the whole man, including their human soul.
Dr. Deveaux further stated that “this is also an investment in our young people,” and that “sports has the transformative ability to change and develop individuals, especially our young persons.”
Dr. Deveaux and his wife, Kristi Deveaux, CEO of Oaktree Medical Center, believe in the unity and opportunity for growth that the CARIFTA Games provide. He said he and his wife are looking forward to the 50th CARIFTA Games being a spectacular event.
Remarks and statements of gratitude for the Oaktree Family’s support for CARIFTA were given by Mike Sands, NACAC President; Drumeco Archer, BAAA President; and Lynden Maycock, CEO CARIFTA Games 2023 Local Organizing Committee (LOC).
“We welcome corporate Bahamas and all Bahamians to follow the lead of Oaktree and invest in our future,” BAAA President Archer said.
The 50th CARIFTA Games will be held from April 7 to April 11, 2023.
