WASHINGTON, D.C., September 12, 2024 — The High-Level Group of the Organization of American States (OAS) to promote the implementation of the recommendations of Electoral Observation Missions (EOMs) on women’s political participation is undertaking a working visit in Jamaica from September 12 to 13, 2024, at the invitation of the Electoral Commission of Jamaica.

Announcing this in a press release today, the OAS said the delegation, led by Rosinoa Wiltshire, international expert in development and gender equality from Barbados, will meet with various government and electoral authorities, political and social actors, and the international community in Jamaica “to discuss initiatives that facilitate the implementation of the recommendations of OAS/EOMs and to learn about the work that various institutions are promoting in this area.”

“The Group seeks to contribute to a dialogue among various actors in order to continue advancing towards greater equality and closing the existing gaps that prevent or limit women from fully exercising their political rights,” the OAS said

The work of the OAS High-Level Group is made possible thanks to financial support of the governments of Canada and Italy.
