NASSAU, Bahamas, Feb. 23. 2023 – The Office of the Prime Minister has announced the appointment of journalist and former News Anchor Keishla Adderley as Deputy Press Secretary and former Our News reporter and anchor C. Jillian Gray as Chief Press Officer.
Adderley has been instrumental in the Press Office since 2022, producing documentaries, providing coverage of Prime Minister Davis, writing, and helping to set up the new department at the Office of the Prime Minister.
A journalist with 23 years, Adderley served as a news anchor at the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas (BCB) and has carried out assignments across North America, Africa, Europe, and The Caribbean, in addition to daily news coverage of events across The Bahamas.
Her assignments of regional and international meetings include coverage of The Prime Minister at high-level talks, including bilateral talks with heads of state, deliberations at the United Nations, Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings and regional talks throughout the Caribbean.
Adderley has served in various capacities at BCB, including the hosting of national and state events, news producer and editor.
“It’s an honour to be part of a system that is mandated to create greater harmony between the Fourth Estate, the government and, by extension, the people of The Bahamas and facilitate greater access to the daily affairs of government,” Adderley said in accepting the appointment. “I have always loved the communications field and look forward to the opportunity to lend and expand my knowledge in this new capacity.”
Adderley is a graduate of Clarke Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Radio, Television and Film from that institution. She also holds an Associate’s of Arts Degree in Mass Communications from The College of The Bahamas.
C. Jillian Gray is a broadcast journalist of 10 years in the field of media as a reporter and anchor with Our News. She is skilled at covering hard news, but says her passion is in telling the stories of ordinary Bahamians doing extraordinary things.
After training to be an English Language teacher for two years, Gray transitioned to the Media Journalism program at the University of The Bahamas to further sharpen her communications skills.
Gray, who has extensive digital design experience, is also an author, media coach, magazine owner, and communications strategist. She says she looks forward to using her skill sets of “prioritizing goals and managing projects with proficiency in the interest of national development.”
“I believe the strength of any organization lies in the cohesion of its members,” Gray said. “That’s why I am excited about creating synergy within our team for the advancement of the country.”
Gray has been with the Press Office since it was established under the Davis Administration and has worked coordinating the day-to-day activities of the department and the press team. She is the lead coordinator for press cabinet briefings, minister’s press tours, and engagement campaigns.
The appointments take immediate effect.
