NASSAU, Bahamas, June 2, 2022 — The Office of The Spouse has been deeply saddened by the loss of an extraordinary Bahamian, Mrs. Vera Poitier-Chase,  Founder and President of the Commonwealth Writers Club of The Bahamas.

Mrs. Poitier-Chase had a big heart. For decades she selflessly nurtured, encouraged and supported young writers from all strata of society.

She simply inspired them and brought out the best in them. Several students have already written books of short stories, insights and poems.

Ms. Poitier-Chase recently led a large delegation of young talented students and teachers on a Courtesy Call to The Office of Spouse of the Prime Minister, received by Mrs. Ann Marie Davis.

Mrs. Davis received several books  written by the young students as gifts. She was highly impressed by the superlative quality of writing and encouraged them to continue to express themselves and to write and educate.

Mrs. Poitier-Chase had great ideas to do more with her club, to go to another level.

The Office of The Spouse expresses deep condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Poitier-Chase.

Her generosity and dedication to improving the lives of many will never be forgotten.

May her soul rest in everlasting peace.
