EDTOR’S NOTE: I absolutely had to share this eloquent and erudite post on Facebook by MP for Seabreeze Leslia Miller-Brice as a Guest Commentary with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE.
NASSAU, Bahamas, January 23, 2023 — Our Logo officially launches our year of jubilee and celebrations. The creation of our official logo, theme and pattern represents the undeniable value of our creatives, the gift of innovation, but also the necessity of collaboration.
Our theme “One Nation, Our Legacy, Our Future” represents Bahamians everywhere reconnecting with our history and legacy as shared accomplishments and challenges that have demonstrated our shared resilience and compassion. As we celebrate all that we’ve accomplished as nation, we must be empowered to soar higher, reach further and strengthen our people, our communities, our family of islands and our nation at every level and within every sector.
The FLAMINGOS are symbolic of our forward movement and the future opportunities that await us as a nation. The intricate details of the flamingos wings symbolize our creativity and the unique abilities that make us Bahamian.🦩
The INTERLOCKING OF THE 50 AND PEOPLE represents the celebration and further development of our nation which is intertwined in the culture and contribution of The Bahamian people.
THE USE OF GOLD represents our jubilee year, our nation’s successes, achievements and triumphs. The use of gold as a metal, represents our people’s resilience and our rich heritage. The gold represents our nation’s ability to be adaptable, but remain solid despite its circumstances and challenges. Symbolic of our ability to take shape, to adjust, but not break.
THE SPARK represents the challenges faced within our respective communities and as a nation. There’s a lot of work ahead of us. We must do more to ensure a better, safer and more prosperous Bahamas. But in those ‘dark’ moments, we must remain steadfast in our faith in God and focused on the ‘spark’ of light that directs our path.
