I applaud participants of The 18th Annual Educators Industry Internship Programme for engaging in a meaningful week of activities and professional development. It always gives me great pleasure to see their enthusiasm and of course, presenting certificates of completion was icing on the cake!

Public school teachers, administrators and guidance counselors from throughout New Providence and the Family Islands participated in the week-long Educators’ Industry Internship Programme. The workshop, which is hosted by the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training and the University of The Bahamas, afforded participants the opportunity to engage numerous work environments within the Tourism industry. Host properties included but were not limited to Atlantis, Comfort Suites, Powerboat Adventures, Nassau Airport Development Company and Margaritaville Beach Resort.

During the closing ceremony of the 5-day workshop, the participants expressed their excitement and gratitude for what was described as enriching experiences all week long. Many noted that their encounters would positively impact their instruction in the classroom when the new school year begins.
