OAS PERMANENT COUNCIL TO HOLD VIRTUAL MEETING TO CONSIDER THE SITUATION OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN THE HEMISPHERE

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 23, 2020 — The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) will hold a virtual special meeting ON  Friday, April 24 at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT) to consider the “The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Hemisphere and the challenges that the financial and economic outlook poses for democratic systems in the Americas,” the OAS announced on its website.

The meeting will be broadcast live — with interpretation in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese — on the OAS Website and the OAS Facebook page.

Meanwhile, in a video  posted on his Facebook page on Thursday, April 23, His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the OAS, speaking from the conference room of the Embassy, delivered a stirring message “at this difficult time as we struggle with all the challenges of COVID-19.” Here is a link to that video: https://www.facebook.com/sidney.collie3/videos/4333710589976161/
