INAGUA, Bahamas, February 20, 2021 —  Speculation is rampant in The Bahamas that a general election is on the horizon, with one report in Social Media suggesting that it could be as early as June. To be sure, both the governing Free National Movement (FNM) and the Opposition Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) have intensified their campaigns nationwide, and there are strong indications that there will be a number of well-qualified Independent candidates who could mount serious challenges to incumbents and other candidates of both major political parties.

This weekend PLP Opposition Leader  Philip “Brave” Davis and a delegation visited Inagua and Mayaguana, two southern islands of The Bahamas in the MICAL Constituency, which is generally considered to be one of the seats in the House of Assembly that the PLP can win back from the governing FNM because of the lackluster representation by its current Member of Parliament Miriam Reckley-Emmanuel.

Meanwhile, on Friday, February 19, PLP Deputy Leader I. Chester Cooper led a delegation to Abaco, where he will spend the weekend meeting with party supporters and members of the greater Abaco community.

PLP public relations specialist Elcott Coleby posted a collage of photos on his Facebook page that BAHAMAS CHRONICLE shared on our Facebook page as a Photo Essay.

The PLP’s campaign blitz in Inagua also included an impressive motorcade. Here’s a link to a video of that motorcade: https://www.facebook.com/egcoleby/videos/10160608430743998\
