WASHINGTON, D.C., October 6, 2024 — During his visit to New York for the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly last week, Bahamas Prime Minister Philip E. Davis, who is an avid baseball fan – having actively participated in Bahamas Baseball Association (BBA) League games during his youthful years — spent an evening watching a New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles game at Yankee Stadium.
Baseball fans throughout The Bahamas — and indeed among Bahamians in the diaspora around the world — are exceedingly proud of the fact that the Yankees outstanding third baseman is Jazz Chisholm Jr., a Bahamian who has established himself as one of the superstars on the Yankees since being traded by the Miami Marlins to the Yankees earlier this year.
Last night, the Yankees won a hard-fought 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals in Game 1 of their American League Division Series (ALDS) and Chisholm again played a pivotal role in securing the victory. Alex Verdugo drove in Chisholm with the winning run after a few plays earlier, in the bottom of the seventh, Chisholm led off the inning with a single and stole second base.
At last week’s game, Prime Minister Davis and his delegation also met with Chandler Solimine, Corporate Partner Relations Executive for the Yankees.
