NASSAU, Bahamas, April 5, 2019 — Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr Hubert Minnis today officially opened the Ministry of Labour’s Grand Bahama District High School Technical and Industrial Forum and Exhibition at the St. George’s High School in Freeport.
The Forum, attended by hundreds of senior high school students from Grand Bahama, Bimini and Grand Cay, is aimed at empowering young people to bridge the skills gap on Grand Bahama.
The Prime Minister said the reduction of the skills gap in The Bahamas is critical to reducing unemployment, increasing productivity and improving ease of doing business.
“With the expansion of our economy nationally and on Grand Bahama, this is an even more urgent matter, especially as construction, our second largest industry, will need many more employees and workers,” th Prime Minister said. (Photos by Yontalay Bowe)
