NASSAU, Bahamas — Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis yesterday reiterated his support for the resumption of hangings in The Bahamas, the Nassau Guardian reported on July 23. “Let’s get it clear: I am a strong advocate of hanging,” said Minnis, who spoke with reporters following a service at Calvary Deliverance Church. “That has not changed; that will not change, not at this particular time. However, I am bound by the laws; but I am a strong advocate of hanging.”
Minnis said the matter will be discussed with his Cabinet.“But everybody knows, the world knows, The Bahamas knows, that I believe in hanging. I have no reservation about hanging you and moving on,” he said.
While addressing the 36th annual convention of Calvary Deliverance Church yesterday, the prime minister spoke about ongoing concerns about crime in The Bahamas.
“My brothers and sisters in Christ, we must also address crime and violence, particularly gang violence, which helps to fuel a culture of death,” he said. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/07/23/pm-renews-support-for-hangings/
