PM, VISITING INDIAN MINISTER HOLD TALKS ON A RANGE OF ISSUES

GEORGETOWN, Guyana — India’s State Minister Dr. Satya Paal Singh on Thursday held talks with Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo at his official residence on Main Street Georgetown, the Guyana Chronicle reported on May 11.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo was joined by his wife, Mrs Sita Nagamootoo, and a delegation of ministers of government, including Minister within the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Valerie Garrido-Lowe, Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan, Minister of Public Telecommunication Catherine Hughes and Minister within the Ministry of Finance Jaipaul Sharma.

Accompanying India’s State Minister was Mr. V. Mahalingam, High Commissioner of India to Guyana. and Mrs Anu Mahalingam.

In an invited comment, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo told the Guyana Chronicle that he had a very cordial exchange of views on a wide range of issues with the visiting minister, even as they both emphasised the need for further strengthening of relationship between Guyana and India. Nagamootoo said too, that during his discussion with the minister he highlighted the importance of strategic alliance between Guyana and India and Guyana as a gateway to the South American market. Nagamootoo also said he was highly impressed with the minister’s visit and his vast knowledge and assured him of the influence of India in Guyana, citing the areas of fighting corruption and recovery of stolen assets.
