NASSAU, Bahamas, May 23, 2023 — Zane Lightbourne, MP for Yamacraw and Minister of State for Education, Technical and Vocational Training, posted a collection of photos on Facebook on Tuesday, May 23, and we decided to share some of them with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and, of course, The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean. The photos were posted with the following narrative:

Mondays are typically a busy day, but thanks to Tiny Tot Preschool we took some time to stop and celebrate Bahamian Independence at yesterday’s special assembly.

Under the theme “Celebrating 50 years of Bahamian Culture”, the preschoolers and staff displayed their Bahamian pride with an exciting assembly which featured a Bahamian fashion show and a tour around the islands of The Bahamas.and I brought special remarks and emphasized the importance of expanding pre-primary school access in The Bahamas as well as the importance of celebrating Bahamian pride as a preschooler.

Other Special guests included Permanent Secretary Lorraine Armbrister; Acting Director Dominique McCartney Russell; Under Secretary Lisa Anderson; Deputy Director of Education Janice Moss; Assistant Director of Education Leja Burrows; Acting District Superintendent Jermaine Butler; and District Education Officer Patrice Bodie.

The tiny tots ended the celebration with a Junkanoo Rush Out.
