WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 14, 2023 — Prime Minister Philip E. Davis posted a collection of photos on Facebook on Thursday, September 14, 2023, that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.
In the narrative posted with the photo, the Prime Minister noted that he had a “great meeting yesterday with @officialMasisi, the President of Botswana, and his team.”
“We exchanged ideas, shared challenges, and explored some exciting ways our countries can cooperate in sectors from tourism to agriculture to financial services. We’ll be sharing more details today at the press conference about how we plan to partner together and strengthen the ties between The Bahamas and Botswana,” the Prime Minister added.
President Masisi, accompanied by First Lady Masisi and a Botswana delegation arrived in The Bahamas, on Tuesday for an official two-day state visit. They were welcomed at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) by Prime Minister Davis, Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Alfred Sears and other Bahamian officials.
Botswana and The Bahamas share an historical symbiotic relationship, as both are former colonies of Great Britain and are both currently members of the British Commonwealth.
With a population of 2.3 million, Botswana is a land-locked country that is bounded by Namibia to the west and north, Zambia and Zimbabwe to the northeast, and South Africa to the southeast and south.
