WASHINGTON, D.C., September 11, 2023 — Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell today posted a collection of photos on Facebook that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.
The Prime Minister, who is on a two-day visit to Chicago, and a Bahamian delegation paid a courtesy call on Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who presented the Prime Minister with a Chicago Cubs jersey. Prime Minister Davis is an avid baseball fan and actively participated as a player in The Bahamas during his younger years.
Minister Mitchell posted the photos with the following narrative:
“Prime Minister Philip Davis receives a Chicago Cubs jersey from Chicago’s Mayor Brandon Johnson accompanied by Fred Mitchell, Foreign Minister; Michael Fountain, Consul General Designate; Ambassador Wendall Jones and MP Leon Lundy. Later, the PM went to the Obama Foundation to see the plans for the Obama Museum and Park. 10 September 2023. (Photos by Calvin Brown RBDF)
