PRIME MINISTER DR. MINNIS HOLDS BRIEFING WITH ST. LUCIA PRIME MINISTER CHASTANET, CHAIR OF CARICOM

ST. LUCIA, July 2, 2019 — Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis, who is in St. Lucia for the 40th Regular Meeting of Heads of Government of CARICOM, held a briefing this morning with St. Lucia’s Prime Minister the Hon. Allen M. Chastanet, during which he introduced the St. Lucia Prime Minister to the Hon. Adrian Gibson, Long Island’s Member of Parliament and Executive Chairman of The Water & Corporation, who is a member of the Bahamian delegation attending the meeting.

The delegation also includes Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Darren Henfield; Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Dionisio D’Aguilar; Bahamas Ambassador to CARICOM, HE Reuben Rahming; Joshua Sears, Senior Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister; and Eugene F. Torchon-Newry Deputy Permanent Secretary. The Prime Minister is also accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Patricia Minnis.

St. Lucia Prime Minister Chasanet is chair the 40th  CARICOM Heads of Government meeting, which is being held July 3 – 5 at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian Resort, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia.

Prime Minister Chastanet assumed the role of Chairman of CARICOM from July 1 for a six-month term, which ends on December 31, 2019. He succeeds outgoing Chairman, Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Timothy Harris of St. Kitts and Nevis.
